MPL Free Development Program
Maximal Software is providing commercial and govermental organizations free access to the world
renowned MPL Modeling System for development purposes.
Description and conditions of the MPL Free Development Program
The program is being universally offered for development purposes. Maximal defines development
copies of MPL, as when the software is just being used to formulate and test models, and not
utilizing the solution results to aid or make business decisions. If the software is required to
use the results in a business environment one will require runtime copies of the software.
Software License
- Each license includes the full-size version of the MPL software, including any
or all of the options available, Database Connection, OptiMax Component Library,
and Stochastic Extensions.
- The development software is allowed to be used for developing and formulating optimization models
that are ultimately intended to be used for commercial use. But to utilize the results for commercial purposes
is prohibited. Runtime copies will be required if one intends to use the development model(s) in a commercial environment.
(see conditions below).
- Each free development license is time-limited (typically 3-9 months). The time period is determined
by Maximal Software, based on the information provided by the applicant on the application form.
At the end of the time period, the applicant can re-apply for extension of the license.
Solvers
- The free development version of MPL does not come with any commercially available solvers, we can provide free
open source solvers such as CoinMP or GLPK.
- Other solvers supported by MPL, for example CPLEX, GUROBI, XPRESS, SULUM, LINDO, XA,
CONOPT, KNITRO, and LGO, will also work with the development version, but will have to be
acquired separately, either from their respective vendor or from Maximal Software.
Tech Support
- We will try our best to respond to any technical support requests regarding
the installation and use of the MPL software, but please note that
since the access to the software is provided for free, there is obviously
going to be some limitations on how much support we can give. If you think you
will require receiving technical support, you still have the option of
purchasing the MPL software with maintenance or apply for the other pricing programs.
